Toton TMD

Toton TMD has been a part or railway history for years, these days is much harder to get access to depots than what it used to be, these days it is almost impossible to get a walk around. Years ago, this was not the case. The depot is best viewed from the bank which can be reached from parking by the roundabout on Epsom Road or Banks Road.

Parking is on the road mentioned so it is free, it appears to be quite a safe area. The paths lead into the the trees and up to the right, there is a grass bank that over looks the depot, you will need binoculars and if you are going to take photos into the depot at least a 300mm lens is required. However in the summer the scrap line is hard to see with all the trees and bushes being rather large and over grown. I would also imagine in the winter the bank will be quite wet and muddy.

There are 2 long lines of Class 60's lined up at the front leading to the right. All the other locomotives are lined up outside the depot. I was there quite early so most had not started to work off the depot. I am sure if you wait long enough, the majority will work of the depot so you would be able to get most of the numbers.

It is well worth a visit, lots to see.
